The writing itself is high quality, but I'm just not a fan of good people suffering :/

i thought it was very good, a way of capturing the brutality of viking raids while making them modern and relatable. i’ve always heard tales of the vikings brutality and raids but never once could i vividly see it like this, good work. although i don’t think there would be enough concentrated groups of pagans in america today to pull something like this off in a collapse although(thankfully)

This is inaccurate because the vikings would die of diabetes before raiding the church

Good read, we should still bully neopagens

Layne PLEASE let me edit this to use proper Norse terminology, reading “those claimed by the Valkyries” and “norns” makes my 60-ish percent Scandinavian blood boil... IT’S VALKYRJA AND NORNIR U FWEAKING CHUD!!

Good writing, interesting but surface level take on pagans, this is basically Blood Tribe apocalypse style.

When the Vikings raided Ireland and Britain, they also settled and made alliances. Many Norse-Gaels joined Gaelic society willingly after establishing strongholds. This also happened all across the Danelaw as it fell. The meme of vikings being blood thirsty savages is just that, a meme. It's not inaccurate, but it only gets a piece of the picture. There's memes of pagans being pansy tree loving faggots too.

This is similar to when some pagans say Christians are proto libtards, but also Christians are these crusading conquerors. These are just memes, but they make for good stories and narratives.

The commenter who thinks there aren't many pagans in America is kinda foolish. Paganism is a growing religion among actual right wingers. Many right wing activists are pagan or pagan adjacent vitalists. There are thousands of us, and most of us are not in the blood tribe camp. I want people to get off the internet. Do some real journalism, and go meet folkish pagans!

https://youtu.be/Igx4C6WbCrM?si=03yqgYy8QD9L1mVS imagine this, but for every European tribe. That's what we want, bruddir.

Good story, I want moar

I'm working with Layne to write a sequel to this story. At some point he can elaborate that the Berserker gang is a bunch of neo-pagan LARPers in the most literal sense. These are antisocial people with a surface-level knowledge of paganism that are going crazy and taking what they want because they can. There is a distinction between these people and more learned, ideological neo-pagans that is eventually touched upon. These are not the only neo-pagans in the wider story.

Layne's a good fiction writer, I'm excited for more. Glad to see you two collab, I personally think fruit will be borne from this.
